October 2010 Article

For the first time in many years, the regular meeting of Cibolo Lodge was not held at Goerke’s Country Tavern.  Goerke’s has closed!  Since we weren’t given any advance notice of their closing, we were unable to include the information in last month’s article.

Temporarily, the Lodge will meet at Gg’s Corner Restaurant in Marion.  They have been kind enough to allow us to meet there for the October and November meetings, but a permanent place will have to be found beginning in January.   Remember, there is no regular meeting in December!  Members will celebrate Christmas with a party on Sunday, December 5th at Schertz Community Center, Building 3.  Festivities will begin at 3 p.m.   Tickets are $6 for Lodge members and $8 for guests.

Unfortunately, our best attempts to notify everyone of the new meeting place fell short and many members were not aware of the change until it was too late.  We apologize to any member that was inconvenienced by this failure.  We can only work harder to make sure this is not repeated in the future, since we will obviously have changes in the coming months.   As we pass this information to you, as members, we ask that you to pass it to any and all members that you may come in contact with.  If any of your contact information has changed, now would be a great time to update with us, so that we can keep you informed of the upcoming changes.  The November meeting will be held on Thursday, November 4th at Gg’s Restaurant in Marion on FM 78.  Dinner will be chili and will be served at 7:30.  Our meeting will follow at 8:00 p.m.  The November meeting will feature election of officers, so please make plans to attend.

Prior to the meeting, the costume contest was held.  This year’s winners were J. Baird (adult) and Cheyanne K. (junior).  Our special drawing winner was Savannah R.  This contest is always one of the high points of the year.  Thank you to everyone who participates in this contest and makes it so much fun for our members.

Members unanimously accepted new adult member, Karen M. and junior members; Sierra Kay G., Mary H., Cory M., Isabella G., Tatyanaah G., Isabelle T., Katelyn G., Stephanie G. and Annemarie G.

Raffle tickets are available for sale.  We have some wonderful prizes in this year’s raffle.  Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. A very special thank you to JSR, Inc. who printed this year’s raffle tickets.  Their generosity is greatly appreciated since all proceeds of the raffle go to the Scholarship Fund. The drawing will be held at the Christmas Party on December 5th.  Contact any member for your tickets!

Attendance prize winners were Ruby B., J. Baird and Morgan B.  The special attendance drawing was Cathy D. who was not present to claim her prize.  Next month, the pot will be $31 and remember, you must be present to win!  It was wonderful to welcome guests, Craig and Hailey R., parents of Savannah!   Side dish winner was Fay F’s Okra and the winning dessert was Chocolate Fondue Pie by Cliff S.

The lodge would like to extend its thanks to the ladies of Gg’s Restaurant who agreed to host our meeting with not much notice.  They are usually closed for dinner and agreed to open to us for our meeting.  We appreciate their generosity and LOVED the sausage!

Remember, the November meeting is at Gg’s in Marion.  No meeting in December, just a Christmas Party.  Watch this newsletter for advice on the January meeting.

Sincerely

Joy  B.
