December 2010 Article

Cibolo Lodge celebrated its annual Christmas Party on Sunday, December 5th.  Members and guests enjoyed the performances of Cibolo Dance classes prior to the start of the party.  The lodge would like to extend thanks to Kim N and the other dance instructors for the wonderful holiday entertainment.

The party is not only a time of celebration, but of award presentation.  A sixty year pin was presented to Alvin S by Grand Lodge Vice-President, Mary B.  Brother Schulz serves as a past-president of our lodge.   A fifty year pin was presented to Mrs. Anita F, for her husband, Oswald.  Brother Oswald passed just after the awarding of his 50-year pin.  The lodge was honored to be able to present his pin to his widow, Anita, and their son, Kenneth in his memory.  Lodge members thank Sister Beam for being our guest at the party and for her participation in these pin ceremonies.

Lodge members were very proud to be able to donate the funds from their matching funds campaign to the representatives of Schertz Humane Society.  Several representatives of the Humane Society were present to collect the checks.  The two organizations have agreed to work together on future projects!

Humanitarian of the Year was presented to Gloria K.  Gloria and her family are long-time members of Cibolo Lodge.  Sister Katzer is mother to five and grandmother to five with another on the way!   She is an active participant in lodge activities and was a leader in the popcorn and candy sales this summer, to benefit the Humane Society.

The Christmas Party is always the lodge’s opportunity to gather non-perishable items for donation to Randolph Area Christian Assistance Program (RACAP).  These organizations have been hit very hard with the downturn in the economy and members were quite generous in their contributions to this worthwhile organization.

In late November, Gail G, Dorothy S and Joy B took the lodge’s collection of personal care items to Autumn Winds Nursing Home.  The representatives were most appreciative of these gifts!   During the presentation, these members got to visit with Wanda K, a lodge member and resident of the nursing home.

The next meeting with be held Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Gg’s Corner Restaurant in Marion at 7:30 p.m.  This is a temporary meeting place.  Please continue to check this newsletter for locations of future meeting sites.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!
