October 2014 Article

The October meeting of Cibolo Lodge 147 is one of the most anticipated of the year. Members, young and old, participate in the fun and prizes. It’s always a tough time choosing a winner!!

Lodge members unanimously accepted new junior members Tasha Martin, Jaymie Robles, Emily Young, Payton Staley, Cybella Redden, Olivia Choina, Sophie Lacy and Addison Lacy.

Make a Difference Day will be celebrated by the lodge by taking personal care items to Silvertree Rehabilitation Center. Cheer Committee, Dorothy Schneider has arranged a presentation for Friday, October 24th. We are proud to honor this important part of our community.

The Lodge Christmas Party will be on Sunday, December 7th at 4 p.m. at Schertz Community Center, Building 5. Tickets will be available at the November meeting or by contacting any lodge officer. The Christmas Party is always a wonderful time of food and socializing. There’s usually a special visit from Santa, with gifts for the kids and lots of photo opportunities.

The Rummage Sale, in September, raised $500 toward the Matching Funds project. The proceeds and matching funds will be contributed to the Lower Valley School Restoration Project. Lower Valley school was owned by Maxine and Lutrell Watts of Schertz who also taught at the school, early in their careers. The school was donated, by their heirs, to Lakeview College and was moved to to Kitty Hawk Rd., close to 1604. When restored the school will be an fully functioning two room school house, a destination field trip for 4th graders in the area. Cibolo Lodge is very proud to be a part of this project.

The final regular meeting of 2014 will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The special drawing pot will be $31 and you must be present to collect this prize. Please plan to join us.
