February 2015 Article

Cibolo Lodge held its February meeting, on the 5th, at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Members enjoyed a meal of friend chicken, prior to the business meeting. Tami DeLuca’s Chocolate Bar and Gail Gray’s Cucumber Salad were voted best side dishes.

The February business meeting set the agenda for 2015. Members agreed to assist with the Doggie Dash in Schertz for its “Join Hands Day” Project in May. Once again, members will collect personal care items for Autumn Winds Nursing Home for the “Make a Difference” Day in October. A bowling social will be held in July and Pizza will be served. The Halloween Costume Contest will be held at the October meeting and the Christmas Party will be held on Sunday, December 6th at Schertz Community Center. Several other projects and events are planned, so watch this newsletter for more details.

Cheer Committee, Dorothy Schneider, reported that a Get Well Card was sent to Milton Dornbush. Sister Schneider also reported the passing of Sister Rachel Leachman on December 1st and Sister Betty Schulz on December 8th. A moment of silence was observed in memory of Sisters Leachman and Schulz and Brother Sigfrid Swenson, who had not been honored, previously.

Sister Schneider also reported that she has the list of 50 and 60 year pin recipients. These special members will be invited to a presentation at the Christmas Party in December. We are always honored to have these recipients as our special guests during the Holiday celebration.

President John Gray read a thank you letter from Alamo Colleges Foundation for our Matching Funds contribution to the Lower Valley School Restoration Project. He also read invitation to the 26th Annual Chili Cook Off and the Shannon Leigh Gaffney Scholarship Golf Tournament, both of which will be held in March. Registration forms are available from any lodge officer.

Jonny Brown was the only member in attendance celebrating a birthday. There were no anniversaries to acknowledge in February. Attendance prize winners were Alvin Schulz, Dorothy Schneider and Sarah Shepherd. The special attendance prize winner was Jimmy Don Miller, who was not present to claim his prize. The pot will be $40 at the March 5th meeting. Remember you must be present to win this prize. March’s meeting will feature Sub Sandwiches and your favorite green dessert! We hope to see you then.
