June 2015 Article

The June regular meeting of Cibolo Lodge 147 was held on Thursday, June 4 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Universal City. The meeting was well attended and found all officers present.

The meeting was busy and filled with decisions and preparations for upcoming events. The Helping Hands Project, originally scheduled for May, but rescheduled for June 13 due to the rain, will find members assisting in the annual Doggie Dash in Schertz. The Doggie Dash is a 5K walk/run for participants and their pets. This is sponsored by Homes for Pets and is the major fundraising organization for Schertz Animal Services. June 12th will find Lodge members conducting their annual Flag Day Ceremony at Cibolo City Hall. This is a community wide event that honors our Flag and our many veterans as well as local civil servants and first responders. Finally, the Matching Funds fundraiser to benefit Thrivewell Cancer Services is going well. There are a few of the World’s Finest Chocolate Bars remaining. Please contact any member to purchase candy bars and support this worthwhile organization.

The Lodge does not meet in July, but holds its social, instead. This year’s social will be held on Sunday, July 19 from 2-6 p.m. at Bracken Bowling Club. This social is open to all members and guests. The Lodge will provide pizza and drinks to those attending. Contact any member if you’d like to attend this fun and exciting social event.

Cibolo Lodge is pleased to welcome new Junior members Isaac Alan Spreen, Sydney Spreen and Angelina Grace Nicholson. Agent Tina Ynfante reported that she had written several applications in the prior month. We look forward to welcoming these applicants to our lodge.

Lodge officers will meet on Sunday, July 26 at the home of Joy and Jonny Brown to go over events for the last six months of the year. Looking ahead, the Halloween Costume Contest and Christmas Party preparations will begin. Please contact any officer or member for information on any of these events.

Joy Brown’s Zucchini and Tami DeLuca’s Peanut Butter Dessert were the side dish winners. Attendance prize winners were John Fey, Tina Ynfante and Giovanni DeLuca, Jr. The Special Drawing winner was Hannah Kutz, who was not present to claim her prize. This prize must be paid out at our August meeting. The total will be $52 and you must be present to claim this prize.

The next regular meeting will be on Thursday, August 6th and will feature our annual Memorial Service. Please plan to attend this special event.
