November 2016 Article

Cibolo Lodge #147 held its regular meeting on November 3rd at the Christ the King Lutheran Church in Universal City.

Dorothy Schneider brought the Hermann Sons Life paper she received this morning and modeled it for all. The layout and articles were great! Everyone’s feedback is positive and they all love the changes.

We welcomed in new junior member Connor Thomas Williams. And speaking on membership, we had the second reading of a By-Laws Revision to raise the dues for members from $0.35 per month to $1.00 or $12 per year and Junior members from $0.35 to $0.50 per month or $6.00 per year. This was not an action item, but it will be voted on and discussed at its third reading on January 5, 2017.img_2218

On Friday, October 21 members Mary Ann Gray and Joy Brown delivered blankets, scarves, and crocheted items to Silvertree Nursing Home in Schertz for Make a Difference Day.

A delicious ham dinner was enjoyed by all present along with delicious side dishes of okra, cabbage, broccoli, hominy and corn to mention a few and it was the cabbage that Dawn Bierstedt brought that won the side dish prize. The desserts included cookies for the homemade cookie contest as well as apple samoas, fruit pies and an upside down fruit cake created by Nell Shepherd that ultimately won the best dessert. The homemade cookie winner was Sherry Rakowitz’s Snicker Doodles.
