Happy Father’s Day to all father’s everywhere! Cibolo Lodge held its regular meeting on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Members present were 17 adult, 3 junior, and 3 guests.

We welcomed new junior members Mia Yolee Mata, Tyler Joseph Eguia and Alexander Christian Sanchez.

Join hands day was May 21 at Texas Lutheran University’s Jackson Auditorium and was a huge success! We passed out and/or sold over 100 bouquets of beautiful flowers. Junior members Javion Campos and Michael Campos opened doors and passed out programs to attendees, such gentlemen! The dancers were beautiful and their recitals were so wonderful!

Our rummage sale is set and will be held in the parking lot on September 16 here at Christ the King Lutheran Church beginning at 8 am so mark your calendar and come out and help us support the Clemens 4H. We are accepting items up to the sale day so contact any member or bring it to us on the day of the event.

Next month we will be serving finger foods so bring your picnic foods to the meeting on July 6.

The side dish winner was Cliff Shepherd’s German potatoes and the dessert winner was Sherry Rakowitz’s tort. The adult prize winners were Jerry Rakowitz and Zane Gray and the junior winner was Javion Campos. The Special Drawing was # 760 Bradley Jose Barrett who was not present. In honor of fathers day, Zane Gray read a fathers day poem titled “Dads Who Talked With The Kids Will Leave A Rich Legacy Behind.” It was very appropriate for all present, great job Zane!

We will be celebrating Flag Day at Cibolo City Hall on June 14 at 10 am and everyone is invited to attend as we pay homage to our grand flag and all it has stood for and all it still stands for.

As a reminder Guest speaker Hans Boas, professor for Germanic Linguistics in the Department of Germanic Studies and the Department of Linguistics at the University of at Austin is scheduled to speak at our October 5, 2017 meeting. Everyone is invited to come and listen and ask questions especially those of you that speak native German or know of anyone that still does. Hans is documenting and recording native German so the language is not lost. Our meeting starts at 7 pm at its held in the classroom of Christ the King Lutheran Church, located at 1129 Pat Booker Rd, Universal City 78148, across from the Whataburger. I will make sure to remind everyone to save the day and have posted the event on the Cibolo Lodge Facebook page.
