Cibolo Lodge held its regular meeting on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Christ the King Lutheran Church.

New junior members welcomed in are Aislyn Genevieve Rivera, Madaline Mozelle Graham, Hadley Rose Brown, Mallorie Anne Olson and Madison Noelle Albus.

Cheer Committee Dorothy Schneider sent out four birthday cards and one sympathy card. Happy Birthday to Margie F. Reinhard, Ida M Conner, Wallace R. Reiman and Horace F. Brucks! We hope everyone had a wonderful and joyous birthday!

Our sincere condolences go out to the family of brother Mervin H Hehs who passed away, we are sincerely sorry for your loss, and in his name we donated $10 to our Scholarship Fund.

Our Christmas Meeting/Party will be held at Bexar Social Hall on December 9th. The menu will be the same as last year bacon wrapped chicken thigh and salad at the same price and let me tell you it is DELICIOUS! And talk about all of the desserts to choose from, WOW all I can say is they are AWESOME!

The lodge is donating $100 to the Home Office Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.

We are hosting a rummage Sale on Saturday September 16th at Christ the King Lutheran Church for the Clemens 4-H. Everyone is welcome to come and find treasures your just can’t live without!

October 27 is our Make a Difference Day at Autumn Winds Nursing Home. We will meet there around 10 am when we will pass out gift bags to the residents. We are still collecting personal care items like socks, scarves, chapstick, adult coloring books, word searches etc so if you care to donate please bring it to our next meeting on Thursday October 5th at 7 pm or contact an officer.

Cibolo Lodge is sponsoring a Painted Church Tour that will be held Saturday, October 28 we will take a charter bus that seats 24, stop at Buc-ee’s for snacks and leg stretch then go to the Chamber of Commerce to pick up our Docent Sharon and start the tour. We propose to see two churches in the morning, then lunch on your own at Oakridge Smokehouse then the last two churches and back in Universal City by 5. The cost is $20 for members and $80 for non members. Seats are filling up fast so if you are interested contact Joy Brown at 210-289-6622.

Meal for next meeting is Costco Pizza.

In attendance there were 18 adults, 4 juniors and 3 guests.
Attendance award winners are Dorothy Schneider and Mary Ann Gray. Junior winner was Averie Woodward. Special drawing was # 593 Grace A Miller who was not present. The prize goes up to $28 next month.

Side dish winner was potato cheese casserole by Sherry Rakowitz, the dessert winner was apple caramel pull apart bread by Tracy Campos.

September Anniversaries are John and Gail Gray and Mike and Dena Warneke.

Due to a goof up on the part of yours truly, guest speaker Jim Wolverton, Guadalupe County Commissioner, has graciously rescheduled for Thursday, November 2 and everyone is invited to attend and get the updates on Guadalupe County goings on.

October guest speaker is Hans Boas, professor for Germanic Linguistics in the Department of Germanic Studies and the Department of Linguistics at the University of at Austin is scheduled to speak at our October 5, 2017 meeting. Everyone is invited to come and listen and ask questions especially those of you that speak native German or know of anyone that still does. Hans is documenting and recording native German so the language is not lost. Our meeting starts at 7 pm at its held in the classroom of Christ the King Lutheran Church, located at 1129 Pat Booker Rd, Universal City 78148, across from the Whataburger. I will make sure to remind everyone to save the day and have posted the event on the Cibolo Lodge Facebook page.
