Cibolo Lodge #147 held its regular meeting on November 2nd at the Christ the King Lutheran Church in Universal City.
Jim Wolverton, Guadalupe County Commissioner, was our guestspeaker.
Did you know that Texas had 23 original municipalities, and in 1850 they changed them to counties? There are now 264 counties in Texas, and in 1846 Guadalupe County was born from Bexar County. To be a new county, there is a minimum requirement of 714 square miles and the parent county has to stay at 900 square miles. Commissioner Wolverton updated us on many aspects of the expected growth of Guadalupe County, answered many questions presented to him, and discussed new pavement techniques. This was an AWESOME presentation! Mr. Wolverton is a very engaging speaker who is passionate about Guadalupe County. Thank you Mr. Wolverton!
Make a difference day was a huge success! Members Gail Gray and Casey Shepherd put together 92 goodie bags for the residents of Autumn Winds Living and Rehabilitation Center and New Haven Assisted Living Center. We met at Autumn Winds on Friday, October 27 at 10 am. We were able to go door to door to hand out to the residents the goodies and they were very receptive and enjoyed the contents of the bags. They were very happy to see our two junior members that accompanied us and our junior members enjoyed petting the cats. We then took the remaining bags to New Haven Assisted Living center where Ms. Doris King accepted the goodies and handed them out for us.
October 28 we went on the painted churches tour in Schulenburg. We visited all four churches and it was an amazing tour. I encourage anyone interested in seeing beautiful churches to go on one of these tours. They are absolutely beautiful and worth the trip. Special thanks to Buddy Preuss for joining us.
